Xavier Senior Captures Two State Championship Titles, Heads To M.I.T.

Xavier College Preparatory senior Tessa Weiss captured the Division I track and field state championship titles in both the

1,600- and the 3,200-meter running events earlier this month. She then went on to win the 1,600-meter event at the Meet of Champions. Tessa graduated from Xavier on May 14th with a 4.0 grade point average and, in the fall, she will study chemical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

In other track and field news, Xavier’s 4×100 relay team (senior Cydeni Carter, juniors Annie Grant and Maddie Minton, and sophomore Bisola Ojeniyi) won third place honors at the state championship meet. At the Meet of Champions, Cydeni Carter captured second place in the 100-meter hurdles, and Annie Grant placed third in the 300-meter hurdles.
