Bridget is a top student at St. Thomas the Apostle, as well as a nationally recruited softball player. At school she plays softball, volleyball and basketball, in addition to playing club softball. Bridget has been invited to six unofficial visits to colleges this fall and has received offers to play Division 1 college softball. She serves as secretary in the National Junior Honor Society, is a friend to all and is known for her sense of humor. Bridget is a driven and competitive athlete, but is the biggest cheerleader to her teammates and friends.
Q. How long have you been involved in school athletics?
A. I have been involved in school softball, basketball, and volleyball since fifth grade and have played club softball since second grade.
Q. What position do you play in softball?
A. In softball, my primary position is third base, but I also catch and play other positions.
Q. Is it difficult to balance your studies with athletics?
A. Sometimes. This fall has been a little difficult because I have only had one weekend in town. I usually study in the car and on the airplane.
Q. When you’re not at school or playing softball, what do you like to do for fun?
A. Right now I don’t have much free time, but when I do, I like to bake and hang out with my friends.
Q. How will you decide on a college with multiple offers? Do you plan to stay close to home or venture far?
A. I am looking at a lot of factors. First and foremost, academics. Then, I look at their softball program. I have to make sure the school is the right fit for me.
Q. Do you have thoughts on a field of study?
A. As of right now, I am thinking about biomedical engineering.
Q. Can you tell me about your secretary responsibilities with the National Junior Honor Society?
A. As an officer, we have weekly meetings every Wednesday before school and I am responsible for taking notes. I help organize school service projects and help volunteer after school.
Q. Do you have a favorite pro- athlete/ team?
A. My favorite pro-athlete is Paul Goldschmidt of the DBacks.
