St. Thomas Aquinas Fifth Grader, Jocelyn, Cares for Others

Jocelyn Ovalle is always thinking of ways to make others feel special. Jocelyn has cut her hair in honor of her teacher, Ms. Burley, and those with Cancer. Jocelyn is involved in theater and was part of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She was recently involved in Kids Alive Theater along with playing volleyball, and having a part as Cantor in fifth grade choir.

Q. Can you tell us about your decision to cut your hair?
A. I cut my hair because my choir teacher Ms. Burley has cancer and I felt so heartbroken that I wanted to cut my hair in her honor!

Q. What sparked your love of singing?
A. I’ve always loved to sing since I could remember. I love so many types of music styles it makes me feel happy inside. My favorite singer is Selena Quintanilla. I look up to her for her singing and dancing style.

Q. What parts have you enjoyed most in theater?
A. I’ve only done singing parts which I love, but I really enjoy making friends in theater- we click very easily!
