St Francis Xavier Varsity Softball Team Wins the CYAA Tournament

The St. Francis Xavier Varsity Softball Team won the large school Catholic Youth Athletic Association Junior High Tournament held in January. In the championship game, St. Francis Xavier faced St. Thomas the Apostle.The two teams had faced off earlier in the season. When the teams played again in the CYAA tournament both teams played a close defensive game that ended in an extra-inning 2 – 1 victory for St. Francis.In the championship game rematch, St. Francis Xavier had to battle back from a 4 run deficit in the first inning.In the following innings both teams battled very hard, but the St. Francis defense tightened and eight St. Francis players got hits contributing to a team victory.St. Francis Xavier won the tournament 10 – 8.It was a hard fought game and an exciting end to a successful season (11-2 record). Way to go Wolves!
