Scholastic Student Book Crew Helps Run Book Fair

Imagine Schools West Gilbert middle school students take part in the Scholastic Student Book Crew. The Student Book Crew is a team of students who help plan, promote, and run the book fair. Students help with other students who are shopping at the book fair. They help them pick out books and they know many of the current, popular books. They also have great ideas with ways to attract the entire school community to the Book Fair.

The student crew also helps make the staff liaison’s workload easier and divides up the responsibilities. It is a great way to build leadership and life skills all while helping the school raise funds.

What was your favorite part of the Scholastic Student Book Crew?

Carl B. – Working with all the people and asking them if they need help. We also made sure people did not steal stuff. I like to read so this was a really fun experience and I would like to do it again.

What does it take to be part of the Scholastic Student Book Crew?

Victoria O. – To be part of the crew you need to have good grades, help others, be kind, and have fun.

What would you say to others who want to be part of the Scholastic Student Book Crew?

Jhenia J. – I would tell other students that are interested that they need to work hard, show good character, integrity, and possess leadership skills.

What was the hardest part of working at the book fair?

Jean G. – The hardest part of working at the book fair was when it was really crowded and really busy because it would get overwhelming and there were a lot of books.

What is your favorite book and why?

Carl B. – Divergent because there is action in yet.

Victoria O. – Dolphin Tale because I love animals and Sawyer helps other people and animals.

Jhenia J. – Holes. I like sci-fi and romance.
