Saint Thomas Aquinas Student, Shariffa Wins District Council Championship Free Throw

On March 18 Shariffa Piamonte won first place in the Arizona State Council 2017 Free throw Championship for the ten-year-old girls category sponsored by Knights of Columbus held in Notre Dame Preparatory High School in Scottsdale, AZ. This petite, proud, wildcat student made her journey to the state championship by winning in the District Council Championship Free Throw Shooting held in Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Grade School. Shariffa is a sports enthusiast. She is shy but fierce when she is in court and on the field. She excels in academics and in the sports she plays

Shariffa also played softball and basketball for her school in her grade level category. Shariffa said, “It was very scary but exciting at the same time because it was m first time. I didn’t know I was going to win. I still want to play for the next year though. I am thankful to the Knights of Columbus for giving me a chance to play as well as ,my school, STA, and to our principal Mrs. Scheller for the recognition.

Shariffa is a fifth grader at Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic School.
