Olivia Scores Big

Last fall the Knights of Columbus 9287 held the annual soccer challenge with three competitors advancing to and winning gold medals at the final state level competition! Ten year old St. Thomas the Apostle competitor, Olivia Yu, ended up with the high score in her tier, earning the honor of being the International Champion!
Q. Can you tell us about your International Champion Trophy?
A. I haven’t received it yet. But, I am told that it’s made of crystal. I am very excited because it will be my first individual trophy!

Q. How long have you played soccer? Do you play other sports?
A. I have been playing soccer since I was two years old. This year I played basketball for St. Thomas the Apostle.

Q. Can you tell us about the annual soccer challenge?
A. I was nervous about entering the contest. I competed at school and scored enough points for the regionals and then the state level. I am so happy that the Knights of Columbus sponsor this challenge!

Q. Who is your favorite athlete?
A. My favorite athlete is Alex Morgan. I hope that someday I play on the U.S. Woman’s National Team just like her!

Q. What do you enjoy most about attending St. Thomas the Apostle?
A. I really like my teachers and friends. I have been going to St. Thomas the Apostle for the last two years and love studying about religion and learning new things all the time.
