Nine Xavier Seniors Sign National Collegiate Letters of Intent

Nine Xavier College Preparatory seniors signed national collegiate letters of intent last week to play their respective sports at eight colleges and universities.  Here is what they had to say!

Elizabeth Caldarelli

Q. What are you looking forward to most about playing college golf?

A. I am most looking forward to playing golf alongside some of the best collegiate players in the country at Texas A&M.

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. I will miss my coaches, Sister Lynn (Winsor) and Coach Tui (Selvaratnam), and my team at Xavier. I will also miss the relationships that I formed with my teammates and all the memories that we shared.

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I plan to major in either Business or Sports Management at Texas A&M. I would like to do some sort of work that is involved with either the PGA or LPGA tour as a career.

Sarah Carter

Q. What are you looking forward to most about college track and field?

A. I am very excited to be part of the competitive collegiate athletic environment, including running in higher-level meets, becoming part of a new team, and traveling across the country to race. This transition moves me one level closer to my goal of being a professional athlete in the sport I love.

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. I will miss my teammates most, as we have bonded greatly over our 5:00 a.m. practices, difficult competitions, and pre-race pasta dinners. These girls are like sisters to me; there are no people I would rather have spent the past four years with.

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I will be majoring in Bio resource Science and Engineering, where I plan to work in sustainable development as well as resource and habitat conservation. I love both animals and the outdoors, and hope to do my part in conserving them for generations to come.

Macy Gordon

Q. What are you looking forward to most about playing college volleyball?

A. I am looking forward to learning from my next beach volleyball coach, Todd Rogers. He is a

2008 Olympic gold medalist and is very very smart when it comes to beach volleyball, so I am very eager to learn as much as I can from him in order to continue my dream of going to the Olympics!

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. I will probably miss our rallies the most. Xavier has the most fun and exciting rallies, and I

will never ever forget how crazy they are!

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I am going to major in Psychology, and I may possibly double major in Kinesiology as well. I would love to be a sports psychologist after college because I think that the mental game is overlooked, extremely fascinating, and crucial to being great at any sport. If I can master the mental game, then I will be able to go to the Olympics. Simple as that! 🙂

Annamarie Hartman

Q. What are you looking forward to most about playing college softball?

A. What I am looking forward to the most is playing with my future teammates and getting the opportunity to continue playing the sport I love.

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. What I will miss most about Xavier is the friendships I have made, and the many memories. I

am so blessed to be a part of a great community of teachers and students.

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I am undecided at the moment, but I am leaning towards a Nursing degree. What I do know now is that I want to enter a field where I can help people in need.

Camille Hays

Q. What are you looking forward to most about competing in college rowing?

A. I am most looking forward to working hard, being able to compete against the nation’s top athletes, and meeting new people within the rowing community. I am also excited to be racing Division 1 for a Pac-12 team.

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. Upon graduating from Xavier, I will miss the community as a whole, and the friends that I

have created long-lasting relationships with.

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I have not decided what I would like to major in, but I definitely want to study topics in the field of business such as Marketing, Management, Finance, or Accounting. I hope to pursue a career in marketing or forensic accounting.

Makena Patterson

Q. What are you looking forward to most about playing college volleyball?

A. I am most looking forward to being a part of the Texas A&M volleyball family. They are so much like a family there, and I’m just so excited to be coached by their coaching staff and to be an Aggie!

Q. What will you miss most about Xavier?

A. I will miss the relationships I have with my teachers. All of the teachers here are so devoted to our success, and that is something that I really appreciated about Xavier education.

Q. What will you be majoring in? What would you like to do as a career with this major?

A. I want to major in Psychology and then, after college, I want to do something in the field of child psychology.
