New Way Academy hosted its first ever student fashion show on Friday, February 26. The “Forever Young” Fashion Show was entirely planned and produced by New Way students. Fashion Show Committee members Mitchell McKenzie, Britney Waxman, and Hunter Brice-Nash led the charge for the event, spending months developing the theme, reaching out to community sponsors, planning the program, and recruiting volunteers and models.
On the night of the big event, a nearly sold out crowd enjoyed fashion by some of the Valley’s top labels, including Riot Kidz, Blush Boutique, Muse, Sport Apparel, and Hello Apparel. New Way students from lower school through high school took the stage, showing confidence, excitement and personality as they walked the runway. Several New Way Academy siblings walked the runway together, and a few New Way teacher’s toddlers graced the stage, showing off New Way’s own Baby Bulldog T-Shirt line.
Behind the scenes, New Way high school students ran the entire event, including managing the backstage, props, sound, and lighting without any help from adults. The event raised over $500, which will be donated to Runway of Dreams, and organization that works to make adaptive clothing available to people with disabilities. The entire New Way community is proud of our students for bringing the “Forever Young” Fashion Show to life and is eagerly anticipating next year’s event!
