Natalie Talks Arizona Sunrays Dance

“Natalie is naturally flexible and I knew when we started at Arizona Sunrays with a little combo class, it was not going to be a short lived hobby. She doesn’t just want to dance, she has to dance. She doesn’t just walk through the house…she leaps and cartwheels! She is very passionate about dance and works really hard.” –Jennifer Utan (Natalies Mom)

How long have you been attending Arizona Sunrays?

I just started my fifth year with Arizona Sunrays

What are some of your favorite things to do there?

My favorite thing to do is dance of course!  I also like to be a helper in the little ones classes.

Do you compete for Arizona Sunrays?

Two years ago I was in two competitions.  I was really nervous, but it was a lot of fun.  Now we mostly just perform a different places instead of competitions.

What is your favorite style of dance?

My favorite style would probably be jazz.  I get to be super sassy!

Is there a style of dance you would like to try that you have not explored yet?

I do so many now, maybe modern dance.

Tell us about one of your coaches?  What makes him/her a great coach?

Miss Sonja gives us harder things to do so we get better.  She gives us hard combinations that sometimes hurt, but she makes it fun.

Have you won any awards from dancing for Arizona Sunrays?

Yes.  When my partner Zowie and I danced our duets at competition two years ago, we got a best overall for one of our duets “Halo.”

When not in dance what else do you like to do for fun?

I like to play Animal Jam and watch movies on my computer.  I also like to play with my dogs Oreo and Pickles.

Natalie is a 5th grader at Desert Trails ElementarySchool
