Q. You are one of the ambassadors for The Odyssey Prep this year, what does that mean?
A. That means that, last year, I got good grades, was the best student in third grade (at least my teachers thought so), and I get to help Mr. Olsen out, do the announcements, pledge and core values.
Q. What responsibilities do you have?
A. I have to set an example for all the new students and all the younger students. I have to go out of my way to help the other people at the school. I have to be caring.
Q. You also wrote a song? What inspired that?
A. I just came home after the day the people came and talked to us about picking up trash. I thought about that and when I went home, I started humming a little tune. I thought maybe I should write a little song for fun. Then I couldn’t think of any words, so I decided to write it about picking up trash and taking care of our school. I never thought I would say it on the announcements. When I showed it to my mom, she said it would be a good idea to help remind the other students to take care of our campus. I thought Mr. Tommy was not really appreciated, but he does a lot of things for our school. So I put him in the song. He really liked it.
Q. What do you like to do for fun?
A. I like sports, video games, math, and jumping on the trampoline. I like running. I like learning new things. I like pigs, fish, and reptiles. I like talking to my friends and building things (forts outside or even tiny castles from Legos). I like organizing things. I like going to school and learning math, music, science, PE, social studies, and playing at recess.
Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?
A. I want to be in the army or the military. Then when I get old like my grandpa, I want to work at the power plant.
Q. What do you think makes a great kid?
A. These are all traits of a great kid: Kind, generous, smart, knowledgeable, open minded, appropriate, risk taker, going out of their way to help other people, they try their best!
