Lyndi Loves to Sing, Dance and Act

Lyndi is a very talented kid, but she is very humble too. Lyndi is a really kind person and always helps others first.

Q. You are a member of the Showchoir at Benchmark, tell us more about that.

A. In show choir we sing along with choreography. We practice each week with our wonderful teacher, Mrs. Nyland. This semester we performed in the community at an assisted living home and at Wreaths Across America at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona. We also sing at two school concerts each year and the Veteran’s Day assembly. We are lucky to have a such an awesome music program at Benchmark.

Q. You also act and dance?

A. Yes, I have been dancing for eight years and I still love it! I dance ballet at Rena Backer school of Ballet and we perform the Nutcracker each December. It’s a lot of fun and we collect toys for the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” program. I also take tap and jazz classes at Bender Performing arts. This year a group of us danced in a Disneyland parade! I have been in several musicals with Art and Sol. I was in the cast of Willy Wonka Jr., Aladdin Jr. and Beauty and the Beast. It’s fun to combine singing, dancing and acting in a show. My favorite was Aladdin because it’s funny and has great music.

Q. How do you manage your time between all of this and school?

A. I manage my time by finishing as much of my work as I can in my free time at school because I have activities after school. When I have a big project, I start on it as soon as possible so I can do a little each day. I also try to finish homework before my activities, so I don’t have to stay up late.

Q. What are some other things you like to do for fun?

A. I don’t have much free time, but when I do I love to sew and draw. I am trying to make my own tutu! I also like to read.

Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?

A. When I grow up I want to be a professional ballerina. It would be so fun to dance all day!

Lyndi is a fifth grader at Benchmark.
