Q. We heard you like to volunteer, tell us about that.
A. I love to volunteer! Volunteering is fun and makes me feel great about myself! Service is an important part of a well-rounded life and I love knowing that I am helping others.
Q. What are some things you like to do for fun?
A. For fun I like to listen to music, sing, play softball, swim, take photographs, and ride my bike. I also LOVE spending time with my friends and family!
Q. What do you like about James Madison Prep?
A. I enjoy a lot about James Madison Prep but one thing I love is the size and how close we are as a school. You know everyone so it feels like coming to see your second family every day. The small classes allow for a lot of one on one teaching and great relationships between the students and their teachers. You get the same high school experience as a school with a large student body without giving up the small school feeling. We have all kinds of sports, extra-curricular classes as well as a robust music/arts program.
The emphasis on being a “smart student” is preparing me for a brighter future later in high school and in college. We are expected to be active partners in our education and not just merely attend class.
Q. Do you know what you want to be when you grow up?
A. When I grow up, I want to go into the medical field and become a doctor. I am uncertain about the exact specialty but I know I’m drawn to orthopedics.
Q. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
A. My sixth grade teacher would tell us to always “BE FEARLESS” in all that we do and I have lived by that motto ever since. I hope that I will be able to share that concept with other students as I go through my schooling.
Lucy is a ninth grader at James Madison Prep.
