Jack, an Avid Golfer, Talks Sports and Summer

Jack is an excellent student. He is kind to everyone and always has a smile on his face. Jack has played numerous sports for Saint Thomas, Jack’s primary sport is golf. He started playing two years ago and is an avid golfer.

Q. You are involved with a lot of sports at Saint Thomas the Apostle? Tell us about them? Which sport is your favorite? Why?

A. At STA, they offer three sports a year, football, basketball, and baseball. We do football in fall, basketball in winter and baseball in spring. My favorite sport is golf because it just comes natural to me. I did not start playing until two years ago and I just had a natural knack for the game.

Q. Tell us about your gold training at CLS?

A. I have been a camp counselor at Christ Lutheran for two summers and it is really fun. I like being with the younger kids because they can be really funny sometimes and we play games with them.

Q. How long have you been attending STA?

A. I started in kindergarten. This will be my ninth year at STA.

Q. Tell us about one of your favorite teachers?

A. One of my favorite teachers in Ms. Janice Junker because even though she may seem tough, she is really good at improving students reading and writing. Also she really knows the material and is very good at teaching it.

Q. Did you do anything exciting this summer?

A. I went to Italy and Spain with my family and had an amazing time. We went to Rome and it was really cool to see all the old structures that you hear about all the time, like the coliseum. I especially liked the coliseum because we got to go inside and see really how smart the romans were to build this huge arena 2000 years ago.

Q. What are you looking forward to most entering the eighth grade?

A. I am most looking forward to being the oldest grade in the school and being the leaders at school. I am also looking forward to CIMI (Catalina Island Marine Institute) camp in California. Every year, the eighth grade goes to CIMI for three days and they go scuba diving and see all kinds of marine life.

Q. What will you miss most about STA?

A. I will probably miss the familiarity of it because I have gone to this school almost as long as I can remember and I have become accustomed to all the buildings and surroundings on campus.
