Human Calculator Stuns and Inspires Students at New Way Academy

Scott Flansburg, best known as The Human Calculator®, wowed students and staff during an education demonstration of his mental calculation skills. New Way Academy students of all ages were inspired and excited about math after attending his presentation.

New Way Academy 7th grader, Shai Maron, asked Scott to visit New Way and meet with the students. “I wanted Scott to come to New Way so that all of the kids here could learn how to do math in a different way than you are normally taught.” New Way Academy is Arizona’s only non-profit, independent Kindergarten through grade twelve day school specializing in children with dyslexia, attention deficit disorder, and language based learning differences.

Scott Flansburg, The Human Calculator®, has been teaching math and entertaining people with his astonishing math skills for more than 20 years. Scott’s nickname was given to him by television star Regis Philbin because of his remarkable math skills that allow him to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all in his head with amazing speed and calculator accuracy. He currently holds the Guinness World Record for adding the same number to itself more times in 15 seconds than a person can do using a calculator.

Scott Flansburg believes everyone has the ability to be good at math and enjoy it, but that most people have not learned to do math in a way that works for them. The Human Calculator® is dedicated to helping students and adults to overcome their math-related fears.

Scott was recently featured on the History Channel’s show Stan Lee’s Superhumans and has appeared on several talk shows including Oprah, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Dateline NBC,  and ABC’s Good Morning America. He has given hundreds of interviews around the world and is also a best-selling author.
