From Homeschooling to Brightmont Academy

Saya was an eighth grader being homeschooled by her mom, when she realized she needed a more stable and structured learning environment. Saya is a bright, motivated student who wanted more from her education. While looking into private one-to-one schools, Saya and her mom found Brightmont Academy. For her freshman year of high school, Saya enrolled at Brightmont Academy – Deer Valley, and is very happy she did.

At Brightmont, Saya’s classes are more formalized, and her teachers are warm and welcoming. Saya appreciates the fact that her classes are customized to her style of learning. “Brightmont teaches you the way you learn,” says Saya. “They allow you to ask all of the questions you want, any time you want.” Saya finds that the open dialogue at Brightmont makes learning easier. And her insatiable curiosity for knowledge is being fulfilled.

Another aspect of Brightmont Saya enjoys is that the teachers structure class projects around her interests. Teachers give her a reason to be engaged in the material. Recently, Saya was completing a writing assessment, and she was able to focus it on singing and acting—her favorite activities outside of school!

Saya is loving her time at Brightmont and feels it is a good fit for students who like to ask questions and are seeking teachers who have the knowledge to support them. “Brightmont is a great school for students with all kinds of learning differences,” Saya says. “The teachers at Brightmont encourage you to do what you want to do.” With the support and encouragement of her teachers, Saya feels confident as she completes her freshman year. She has plans to attend college upon her graduation from Brightmont and is looking forward to a future where her curiosity will lead to new adventures.
