Faith volunteers at Scottsdale Health Care and plays varsity basketball. She hopes to attend a historically black college in the fall.
Q. You play varsity basketball, how much time do you need to dedicate to that?
As a fourth year varsity player, I have practice every day including Saturday. The team practices are 1 1⁄2 2 hours, including daily devotions from the Bible.
Q. What is your favorite thing about basketball?
My favorite thing about basketball is the position I play. My height and body structure are perfect for the forward position. I also like game day because this is when all the things we learn in practice come together for the girls on the team.
Q. Do you play any other sports?
No, I do not play any other sports at this time because as a senior it is tough to balance all of my academic demands.
Q. You volunteer also? Where and what do you do?
Yes, I have to volunteer as a mandatory part of my responsibility as a student at Scottsdale Christian Academy. To fulfill this requirement, I volunteer at my church, Scottsdale Bible Church. On a personal level, I love volunteering at Scottsdale Healthcare. They have a wonderful student program that allowed me to work at the Osborne facility for 8 weeks in various departments during the months of July and August.
Q. Any plans for the future?
My plans for the future include going to college. I have already applied and have been accepted to a couple of local schools; however, I really want to attend an HBC (Historically Black College). I have applied to Howard University and Fisk University and I anxiously await a letter of acceptance. In addition, I am excited to have been selected to go on a mission trip to Costa Rica. I will participate on a mission team with 20 of my classmates for 1 week in March of 2015. Finally, my plan for the future is to stay positive and live for my Savior Jesus Christ giving Him all the glory.
