Eight St. Francis Xavier Students are the Recipients of the Christian Service Award

As a Catholic Jesuit School, St. Francis Xavier challenges students to embark on a lifelong journey of discovery of their God-given gifts and to share these gifts in service to God. We have an extraordinary group of students who have been recognized by the Catholic Community Foundation (CCF). CCF recognizes eighth grade students from throughout the Diocese who display a love and understanding of their Catholic faith, not only to performing acts of service, but to living a service focused life.

This year St. Francis Xavier School is extremely proud to have eight award winners. They are Kate Cowan, Michael Fisher, Jack Sorensen, Will Sanford, Matthew Sandoval, Kate Brink, Jayme Brown, and Peter Laborin. We also had 3 finalists Kate Claypool, Kate Ryan and Anna Bahti. Recipients of the prestigious Christian Service Award were honored by the Bishop at a special ceremony on March 2nd., and received an $8,000-$12,000 Catholic high school tuition scholarship for the Catholic High School of their choice.

These students have shown a true commitment to service. Many wonderful organizations benefitted from their dedication. Between our finalist and the award winners over 1,100 hours of service was provided to many Valley organizations such as St. Vincent de Paul, Mobile Mini’s, Alzheimer’s Association and many more.

All of these students live out the St. Francis Xavier School motto of being “Kids for Others” and we are so proud of them.
