Jazmin Cantley is an energetic, spunky member of the Woodrow C. Scoutten/Tolleson Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Phoenix. She’s a talented athlete who keeps the Club staff and members smiling whenever she’s around.
How long have you been coming to the Club? I started coming here when I was eight, so about six years.
What are some your favorite memories from the Club? Well, volleyball is basically my life, so the day that we got to go to the Avondale Sports Complex was really fun. They have a huge soccer field and volleyball courts, basketball courts and dance studios.
Do you have any summer plans? I’m going to the Summer Day Camp and the Tolleson Branch! Last summer was so much fun that I want to do it again. We went swimming a lot and got to go on a bunch of field trips. My favorites were when we got to take field trips to other Clubs.
You go to Art Academy of Estrella Mountain — what’s it like? I’ve been going there since kindergarten, and I really love it. Most of the art that we do is performing arts like dance, choir and music. My favorite is dance. This year I’m taking 8th grade honors classes for all of our academic subjects like math and science.
Why do you think your Club nominated you to be in In the Zona this month? I think they like me here because I’m funny and can make everyone laugh, and I try to be a good person.
Is there anything else you’d like the readers to know about you? I love waffles!
