CEE’s ‘Mathletes’ and ‘You Be the Chemist’ Clubs

Tell us a little bit about Mathletes and You Be The Chemist. I am one of the contestants and I get to participate and answers questions at the competition. You have a buzzer and if you know the answer you press the buzzer. For Mathlete you just go to a room and take a test.

How did you get chosen to participate in these competitions? For math I am one of the highest math grades at CEE. For ‘You Be The Chemist’ you have to take a test and the top six people are chosen to place.

What is your favorite part of being a contestant? My favorite part is when you are in the competition. It’s a pride thing that I get when I get to say that I am competing. Also I learn bout chemistry and science. I have probably learned ore in the competition that I have ever learned.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a district manager for CVS Pharmacy. I like the idea of managing something and I think that CVS pharmacy is a real company.

Jeffrey Gromko 8th grade

What is your favorite part of being in Mathletes and You be the Chemist? My favorite part is not just the fact about going into a giant competition but also all of the things you get to learn.

What types of things do you get to learn? I get to learn balancing equations, elements, and the periodical table.

What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be an engineer.

What is your favorite part of being in Mathletes and You be the Chemist? The learning experience, I get to learn so many new things.

What is your favorite thing about CEE? All the teachers are nice and they really take pride in their teaching.
