It’s the end of a long and busy school day. Many students unwind, lingering around their lockers as they chat with friends. However, for Ashlynn Miller, her day has just begun.
Ashlynn is a senior at Phoenix Country Day School and she has a passion for the art of dance. Dancing since the age of 3, Ashlynn is dedicated to perfecting her craft. She practices for 4 hours most weeknights and even longer hours over the weekend. “There have been so many times when my body just hurts or I feel like I can’t move, but I just have to keep practicing,” reflects Ashlynn.
Her strong work ethic and perseverance has certainly paid off. Last summer she was placed in the National Top 10 dancers of the country from her New York City Dance Alliance competition and received a $7,500 scholarship for college. As for her future college plans, she has received acceptances to the prestigious and highly selective UCLA World Arts and Cultures/Dance Program, the NYU Tisch School of the Arts, and also Duke University. Wherever she ends up this fall, she will be double majoring in dance and possibly biology. Ashlynn’s dream, besides dancing professionally, is to become an orthodontist.
From her first few steps as a toddler to the beautiful dancer we know today, Ashlynn continues to excel with her unwavering dedication to dance. As she shares her talents on stage, we are all inspired as she fulfills and lives her passion everyday.
