ACA Accredited Cactus Day Camp Offers Wide Range of Activities

Cactus Day Camp is where traditional day camping comes to the desert. The Cactus experience is about trying new things and gaining new skills in an emotionally and physically safe and non-competitive environment while gaining independence as well as a sense of belonging.

Q. Your camp is ACA Accredited, what does that mean?

A. The ACA has 50 years of experience in developing and administering a standards program. It has set the standards in the industry. Accreditation assures families that Cactus Day Camp has made a commitment to a safe, nurturing environment for its campers.

Q. What does a typical day at Cactus Day Camp look like?

A. No two days are ever the same at Cactus Day Camp. Each day starts and ends with a pep rally where we gather as an entire camp and celebrate birthdays, win prizes, dance, sing and show our spirit. Campers swim every day in one of our two pools on campus staffed with certified lifeguards. Besides swimming each day, camp groups are scheduled for three of our over 20 activities which include archery, gaga, board games, gaming, team sports, gymnastics, crafts, dance, model rocketry, mini golf, climbing, water slide and more. In addition to the regular scheduled group activities, campers have a chance to choose their favorite activities during Camper’s Choice, a favorite amongst the campers.

Q. What other activities can kids expect while attending?

A. Each Friday, we culminate the fun with an exciting theme and special schedule. Special days such as Carnival, Olympics, Color Day, and Wacky Water Days are highlights for campers and a time when spirit and enthusiasm are at an all-time high!

Q. Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

A. Besides our daily activities, we pride ourselves on the strong relationships our campers make with each other and their counselors as well as the camaraderie and enthusiastic spirit we live at camp. We contribute that to campers attending on a consistent basis for a minimum of two weeks while having the same counselors and campers in their groups.
